OCZ Technology Vertex 2 - 120 Go
Benchmark Reviews"Benchmark Reviews has tested the OCZ Vertex 2 Extended SSD against many of its closest competitors, and the performance results were impressive by their own merits. In fact, the OCZ Vertex 2 Extended SSD outperformed all other SandForce-based SSDs in nearly every single bandwidth speed and operational performance test performed. High-performance computer enthusiasts will enjoy the a noteworthy 0.16 ms response time, which assures a nearly-instant reactions when called upon."

Bit tech"While the competition over120-128GB SSDs is showing no signs of letting up, the Vertex 2E remains a strong choice. Thanks to the excellent support structure OCZ has in place and the competitive pricing, we’d recommend it over any other SandForce SSD."

Expert Reviews"It's incredibly fast at writing files, but slow read performance and a high price heavily detract from it."

Hexus"Bottom line: OCZ's Vertex 2E 120GB SSD offers premium performance at, for the moment, a mainstream price. Pick one up while you can."

Lanoc Reviews"Having put the Vertex 2 to the test, I was amazed to see its outstanding overall performance. The write speeds were especially impressive when compared to drives we have tested in the past. Although their Agility series is known for its mid-range pricing, the Vertex is not far off when compared by their price per Gb. Combine the great performance with a reasonable price and you have the makes of a great buy. I would recommend the Vertex 2 for anyone looking for top notch speed with a reasonable price."

Overclock3D"It's too expensive, under performs and has reduced capacity compared to similar drives. Technology has moved on, and the Vertex 2 is clearly a step behind."

Overclockers Club"If you look back again at the benchmarks that were run, just about every time, the SandForce controller dominated in the write tests. When you take into account overall scores, it was the faster drive of the bunch. Real world speed is what I look for in a drive. For the read speeds, being in the 200's, who is really going to notice a slight difference between one drive or another? But if you switch hands and one drive is writing at 80MB/s and another is writing twice as fast, you are going to see real world results as your saves will happen more quickly, your programs will be more responsive and overall, your system will feel snappier."

Slashgear"Given daily use is more likely to throw up random I/O with various cache files and other temporary documents, and the benefit of the SandForce controller, we’d opt for the OCZ in preference"

Tech ARP"Overall, we are most impressed with the performance of the OCZ Vertex 2 (E) 120 GB solid state drive. It combines a good amount of storage capacity, ground-breaking read and write performance in an affordable ackage that is backed by an excellent 3 year warranty. In fact, we think so highly of it that we feel it deserves no less than our Reviewer's Choice Award! Congratulations, OCZ!"

TechRadar"As far as OCZ's duo of drives based on the SF-1200 go, the Vertex 2 claims an advantage over the Agility 2 in the number of input/output operations per second (IOPS) it can handle: some 50,000 compared to 10,000 for the Agility 2."

Tests Freaks"There’s no doubt the OCZ Vertex 2 is a fast drive, in fact it’s the fastest I’ve ever tested. I’m impressed but it doesn’t take much to impress me… Seriously though, the OCZ Vertex 2 is a drive that I can easily recommend if you’re looking to have the best performing and fastest SSD out there in your system."

Think Computers"If you are looking to get a solid state drive and don’t want to mess with adapters or anything like that then this drive is the definite choice. To my knowledge OCZ is one of the only manufacturers to offer 3.5-inch solid state drives in the consumer market."

This will also bring down the price of previous generation solid state drives. Right now you can find the Vertex 2 120GB for around $350 online. As of right now it is the best performing SandForce-based solid state we have tested. Overall ThinkComputers gives the OCZ Vertex 2 120GB Solid State Drive a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award."

TweakTown"Both versions of the drive perform at the same level, as fast as anything else with a SandForce SF-1200 controller. When compared to the other next generation SSD on the market, the Crucial RealSSD C300 128GB, we felt the Vertex 2 E is the way to go. "
