Crucial RealSSD C300 - 256 Mo

5/5 en AnandTech
"If you’re running Windows 7, have a 6Gbps controller and want a 256GB drive, go Crucial. If you’re running any other OS, are using RAID or can only afford a 128GB drive, go SandForce."

"Like we said, if you need the fastest drive on the market, the RealSSD C300 256GB is it. Period. It is very expensive, but you do get what you pay for. There are other SSDs that offer a better price, but the performance will be lowered. It is up to you to make the decision if you need the fastest, or can you live with a slightly slower drive that may be much cheaper."

"Bottom line: going to the top of the SSD class with some drool-worthy performance, the Crucial RealSSD C300 does enough to garner a HEXUS performance gong as storage for the ultimate PC. The best SSD going? We'll only know that once a SandForce-powered drive has been through the wringer. Stay tuned for an interesting head-to-head."

" In almost every benchmark / test we ran, the C300 finished well ahead of competing offerings from OCZ and Intel, even when the drive was connected via SATA II."

"That said, we know with the right hardware these Crucial RealSSD C300 drives can easily break the 300MB/s barrier when measuring read performance. Therefore, the RealSSD C300 series may be a little ahead of their time in that regard. Still, even when limited to the SATA II 3Gb/s interface, the Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB still proved to be a real weapon and has now become our favorite SSD."

"There’s no question that on a 6Gb/s SATA port, the Crucial C300 has by far the fastest read speeds we’ve ever seen. And on a 3Gb/s port, it’s nothing to sneeze at. But for sequential and random write speeds, it can’t touch SandForce drives. And its current firmware’s instability is worrisome, though we have faith that Crucial can fix the problem. But hey, 300MB/s reads. So cool. If your rig has 6Gb/s SATA ports, and random writes aren’t your biggest concern, prepare for the ride of your life."

"The Crucial 300 256GB has killer performance, no two ways about it. If you need a larger capacity solid state drive and want one with lightning quick speed, then we have no hesitation in recommending the C300 as a top pick if you need the best. "

"Using the Crucial C300 on a Sata 2.0 connection produced a warm glowing feeling but things went to pieces when using Sata 3.0. Most of the benchmark figures dipped alarmingly, however, Iometer gave great results. While there are performance gains with existing equipment, if you're looking for Sata 3.0 throughput you may well be underwhelmed. At this stage, it seems your mileage may vary."

"If you have a serious need for speed, there's nothing faster than the Crucial C300 256GB SSD. The only negative is it performs best when paired with a compatible controller card, which means it's not going to be the best option for most notebook users. However, in the desktop environment it can't be topped, making the C300 the ultimate performance oriented SSD."

5/5 en The Tech Report
"This one's going to be easy because the results really do speak for themselves. Simply put, the RealSSD C300 turned in one of the finest all-around performances we've witnessed from a solid-state drive. We're used to seeing SSDs post impressive scores in some tests but deliver sub-par or even horrendous results in others. After going over page after page of benchmark data, though, I'm hard pressed to find a definitive weakness in the C300. The drive's random-write performance with smaller transfer sizes isn't particularly inspiring, and the RealSSD falls victim to a couple of the same FC-Test file sets that create problems for other SSDs, but that's really it. Otherwise, the C300 is a monster, often leading its rivals and rarely far behind them when it's not."

"As I said if you can support a SATA 6Gbps drive then there is no question you should get this drive. The 256GB version of this drive can be found for around $600 online, which is quite a lot to drop on a drive, but like we said it is the fastest drive available and truly cutting edge. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Crucial RealSSD C300 256GB SATA 6Gbps Solid State Drive a 10 out of 10 score and our Editor’s Choice Award!"

"Here is where the rub lies. Even though Team SandForce is able to outperform the Crucial C300 in 256GB, in many real world tests users with 256GB of capacity are going to be keeping more files on their PC, notebook or God help us….Mac. The Crucial RealSSD C300 is able to transfer files faster than the SandForce SF-1200 right now and even though I can’t confirm it now, I think the new higher capacity MP2 drives will be even slower at this task. Speculation is kind of a pain when talking to 2 million people worldwide, so let’s just stick with the fact that C300 has an advantage now. "
