A-Data S599 - 100 Go

4/5 en Benchmark Reviews
"The ADATA S599 proved to meet or exceed its specifications, and 286/277 MBps read and write speeds are enough push the envelope of second-generation SATA performance. Unfortunately, most new SSDs coming to market are likely to be compliant with 3rd-generation SATA standards, and may also be faster. While the current retail prices make the ADATA S599 an attractive buy, expect even more discounts to come as additional SATA-6G SSDs join the market. ADATA made a wise decision to partner with SandForce for the S599, as it easily outperforms Indilinx-based SSDs. "

"With the release of the SandForce 1200 based S599 ADATA is placing a superb piece of hardware onto the market. The results show potential and here and there even are flabbergasting. As such we can only conclude that SandForce 1200 based SSDs will show massive muscle throughout the board of tests. We did have one issue with with HDTune which does not seem to like the SSD at all, but perhaps that's solved with either a software update, or new firmware. Other then that it broke any and all records really."

"All things considered, a RAID 0 array with dual A-DATA S599 SSDs provide very good performance that exceeds that of a single drive and gives us twice as much capacity. The downside is that it costs twice as much as a single small drive, but you will be able to divide your purchase by getting the first drive now and later purchase a second drive. With Intel now offering a very fast driver that is able to pass along the TRIM command in RAID 0, taking advantage of RAID with a pair of SSDs is now possible without an enterprise class controller card. With SSD prices falling and most users having Intel RAID in their system all ready, the flood gates are now open for a higher adaption rate. "

"With that point established, I am comfortable saying that when paired with Intel’s latest SATA drivers the SandForce SF-1200 is the fastest consumer chipset currently available to consumers for general Windows tasks."

"When it comes to performance we would like to see SandForce and A-DATA start to focus on data copy performance and see what they can do with compressed data transfer performance specifically. This is an area that will always be difficult for SandForce drives in this series, but we also feel that performance could also be improved here since the older firmware gave nearly a 20% increase over what we are seeing now."
